Using Dry Ice to Make Delicious Ice Cream
If you’re looking for a fun project for your kids or just want to treat yourself, making ice cream with dry ice is fun and rewarding!
It’s really not that difficult to make ice cream at home, and you are going to kick yourself if you have never done it before. With just a few simple ingredients and dry ice, you can make delicious ice cream.
Ice Cream Ingredients with Dry Ice
You may have a lot of these ingredients just laying around the house already, but incase you don’t, here is what you will need: 2 cups of heavy cream, 2 cups of half-and-half, 1/8 teaspoon of salt, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and 3.4 cup of sugar. It almost sounds too simple, doesn’t it?
Making Ice Cream with Dry Ice
The dry ice won’t work in its current state, so you need to crush the pack with a hammer or roll over it with a rolling pin. After the dry ice is thoroughly crushed, you can mix all the ingredients in a big bowl. When the ingredients are blending together, you can start to shake the dry ice into the mixture. When more and more dry ice is added, your ice cream will be closed to forming and will become more difficult to mix. Keep adding the dry ice until it reaches the consistency you prefer.
Finished Product
Your homemade ice cream may be extremely cold, so take precaution in digging in right away. You want to avoid frostbite, so it’s best to just test a little bit instead of quickly shoving a spoonful into your mouth as soon as it is made.
