Ghostly Ways to Use Dry Ice This Halloween
It’s never too early to start planning for Halloween! You want something spooky yet warm and welcoming for your home. It would be best if you had that extra touch of eeriness that would amaze your neighbors and level up your Halloween. Then, you think about dry ice! Here are four haunting ways to use dry ice to enhance your upcoming Halloween party:
Classic Jack-O-Lantern
Carve your pumpkin as usual, and then place it in a shallow bowl along with dry ice and warm water. A haunting effect will result as the smoky gas pours out of your pumpkin’s mouth. If necessary, add more dry ice and hot water. Position your jack-o-lantern in the corner of a room in your home or on your front porch to welcome visitors!
Creepy Pumpkin Punch Bowl
A giant pumpkin shell will be needed for this creepy punch bowl. Put a large metal bowl and a few pieces of dry ice inside the pumpkin shell. Then, release a tiny bit of hot water onto the dry ice. Remember to use safety precautions when using dry ice. Use tongs or thick winter gloves when holding dry ice. If you need to cut dry ice into smaller pieces, tap it with a hammer. Enjoy the fog creeping over the pumpkin shell by placing your punch bowl on top of the mixture. Add more hot water for continuous sublimation. This is a great way to add a unique decoration to the punch bowl.
Spooky Cocktails
Did you know you can enjoy cocktail beverages prepared with dry ice? The foggy gas will sit on the edge of your drink and overflow from the transparent glass, creating a chilling effect. For extra fun, add a gummy candy or spider to the edge of the glass. Attach a straw for safe sipping, and remind your visitors not to place the dry ice in their mouths.
Foggy Entrance
With a few placed vases and containers, you can make a foggy entrance to your party. Put several small pieces of dry ice into each container and then add warm water. You can use a small fan to spread the fog. When dry ice is sublimated, it produces a creepy, smoke-like gas perfect for a foggy entrance! The gas is denser than air, so it will naturally sink and float along any surface, like a chair or the floor. Be prepared to add more dry ice.
