A Kid-Friendly Halloween Party Featuring Dry Ice
There are many different ways to use dry ice for your indoor Halloween party. Halloween is a time for kids to dress up as their superheroes or some terrifying like clowns and zombies. But in many communities, they do not allow kids to go trick-or-treating as a safety measure. If you live in one of those communities, why not throw a Halloween party for the kids? Check out some of our ideas for your child’s Halloween party.
Mad Scientist’s Punch
To make the party extra special, why not serve some “Mad Scientist” punch. Take a colorful liquid like juice or Kool-Aid and fill it into a gallon or two gallon clear container. Break your dry ice into 6 inch pieces and place it into the container. Allow ice to melt before replenishing. If you are worried about serving the ice to your guests, put it into a container that will allow the liquid in but will not let the ice escape.
Monster Mash
To add to your “Mad Scientist” theme, try a Frankenstein’s Monster centerpiece. For your table center pieces, try decorating a large clear vase with adhesive foam for the hair, mouth, and crosshatched scar.
Use empty thread spools or wooden pieces spray painted silver for the neck bolts and large eyes to finish it off. Add water and green food dye to the vase before adding dry ice. You can also use white yarn, eyes, and white colored water for a mummy or orange for a Jack-o-lantern.
For Ambiance
To add some fog to your candy bowl, you need two bowls, a plastic cauldron, and dry ice. Take a bowl and place it upside down inside the cauldron. While using heavy duty gloves or a set of tons with oven mitts, place the dry ice around the upside down bowl. Take the other bowl and place it right side up on the other bowl, gently fill the cauldron with water and fill the bowl with candy. For parties, fill the bowl with a snack or goody bags for your guests to take with them. If you have trick-or-treaters, sit outside and watch their eyes light up as they enjoy this simple but spooky decoration.
While dry ice should not be consumed, it is an amazingly spooky tool to add another element to your child’s Halloween party! The kids will enjoy seeing you assemble these projects and love the benefits of them.
